Abstract:The blue economy has been attracting particular attention in recent years due to the urgent need to address climate change and converse biodiversity. The blue economy is a sustainable way to achieve blue carbon. (1) Conservation of coral reefs, (2) conservation of mangrove in the wetlands, and (3) solution of ocean pollution such as plastic and microplastic are important issues for achieving blue economy. Specific industries such as aquaculture and marine transportation mainly contribute to blue economy, however I has hypothesized that processing industries such as cosmetics could also contribute to blue economy. Although there are some reviews to indicate the cosmetic industry is related to these issues as their ingredients, few are shown as environmental considerations in the context of biodiversity. This study is to explore the potential of blue economy in cosmetic industry with quantitative research, and to indicate how the three environmental issues are related to the industry.
